By the nature of their composition the walls of “Pebble” pots are porous – more so than traditional terracotta pots therefore roots will slowly drink, or excess moisture will evaporate from the outside of the pot.
Patience is key, nothing happens fast, we generally recommend plant care and watering is generally similar to usual pot/container gardening.
Top Planting Tips
With an unmatched plethora of shapes and sizes available, Pebble pots allow you the flexibility to plant all sorts of fabulous plant varieties, annuals, herbs and bulbs. With this in mind all our pots leave our workshop carefully ‘conditioned’ and ready to allow you to unleash your planting container creativity 🪴
BIG NOTE: Before you plant – water your pot! Ahead of planting simply submerge or fill your pot with water to the rim and allow to soak for 3-4 hours. Tip away the water and plant – this way the stone will be damp and won’t pinch the water meant for your new plants!
Drainage holes
To make an ideal home for all dry loving plants such as Alpines, Sedum, Sempervivum, Cactus and Bonsai and since porosity is high, if desired the stone material can easily be carefully drilled using a suitable drill.
Usage
Your Pebble pot is ideal for outside use, is very strong and can withstand temperatures down to -15 degrees, hence no cracking after a bitterly cold winter. If placed outside they age gracefully and look charming with creeping moss and lichen.
Indoor Use
They look fantastic indoors in garden rooms and orangeries however due to high porosity must ALWAYS be placed on a saucer to protect the surface they sit on.
Sustainability is Vitally important
My Pebble pieces aim to be 100% recyclable and are created traditionally using up-cycled and reusable materials.
